The MIAV group covers the analysis, understanding and visualisation of medical image data. This can be used in computer aided diagnosis systems, augmented reality applications (e.g. projecting additional information derived from medical images onto the patient during surgical procedures) and patient specific modelling (which might contribute to the patient decision process). The topics will be driven by the clinical end-users, and initially will cover lung CT, mammography, prostate MRI, (functional) brain MRI, thermal imaging applications, interventional radiology, etc.

The NCMH is Wales’ first Biomedical Research Centre. It brings together world-leading researchers, healthcare professionals, patients and carers to improve our understanding of mental health and illness and improve diagnosis, treatment and support for those affected by mental illness.
